Just a quick look, but I think LP and NG can be made to be interchangeable. This is a 35KW generator that says it will run on either:

We're going to be putting in one of the Generac 1800RPM quiet models at our office (so the neighbors won't bitch too much about the noise of a 3600). So here's one of the potential problems we're worried about, because it happened. They shut off the natural gas after the tornado last year because houses were blown away and gas was leaking everywhere. If that were to happen again, then our shiny expensive new generator will be sitting there doing nothing. So we're thinking about doing a LP tank as backup, but would like to have the primary be NG. Has anyone done this? Two regulators and valves perhaps? I don't have a problem manually turning some valves, but I don't wanna be out there at o'dark:30 in the rain doing plumbing.
