Somebody here ought to point out that the biggest difference in performance between is that the AF-5 (I don't think the 5U is actually legal to use in the US, is it?) and the AF-5X is that the AF-5 is capable of doing full duplex, and can do quit a bit higher throughput because of that - of course it also has some pretty significant disadvantages, like being gigantic, using lots of power and being stuck with fairly low gain antennas.
