Paul, I have done this before and it works pretty easily. So if you want to send half the traffic through the one backhaul and then half through another path, just manually adjust the metric cost on the routers that are on the closer hop count to a higher value until it is the same exact cost for traffic to go both paths. Then it will evenly split the traffic between paths. You have to be careuful that both backhauls have the same capacity otherwise if one starts to peak out (might be running lower modulation) you may get some weird results.
