Something handy I keep is a Planet GT-905A. 10/100/1G copper port and an SFP slot, so whatever 1G optic you want. Pretty much a 2-port VLAN capable managed switch in a media converter size package. Operating temp is rated 0-50C though. I was thinking about trying some of these for AE FTTH CPEs. One reason is that it being a switch, the copper port can negotiate 100Mb while the SFP is at 1G, for the customers that want to bring their own crappy routers with 10/100 WAN interfaces. Most media converters are fixed speed on both sides. If it's 1G fiber, then it's 1G copper only.

I want to buy another selection of gigabit copper to sfp converters for reverse engineering purposes. Ideally some which are known to work well and especially any which don't fail in non climate controlled environments.

What is everyone using?
