So on the Wednesday night play, did the defense not catch it on purpose?

I still play baseball in an old mans little league in Phoenix and yes, it’s 
called all the time.  Statistically, you just don’t see a lot of infield fly 
balls in the majors because they can hit it 400’.  Hang around our league and 
it’s pretty common because we can’t.  Had one called Wednesday night in fact.

Has anyone ever actually seen an umpire call the infield fly rule?  I was just 
discussing it with my wife and I realized I have never seen it that I can 
remember.  

 

I don’t watch a lot of baseball, but like a drop kick in football, I have never 
seen one one of those either.  

So now caught in the depths of youtube hell watching NFL trick plays.  Nice way 
to enjoy a Saturday morning.
