I've never heard of anyone being prosecuted. Then again, most of the smart meters out here don't work because they are too far apart from each other to create a mesh.

You can also put a Faraday cage around the alleged smart meter.

I bought this house something like 6 years ago, since the day I
moved in the tamper tag has been laying on top of the meter. I
don't think my meter has ever been read. Ill probably get in
trouble when they show up for the tamper tag being broken. If I
let them do it, I think I'm going to fill the box with rancid hit

Good luck getting the customer to refuse since ComEd will
charge $10/mo for manual meter reading, even though they've
been doing estimated readings for, I don't know, 2-3 years now.

But wait, there's more! Even if you DO want it, you still pay
an extra $3/mo for this awesome new service that trashes the
spectrum. Also for that $3/mo, you get to be told that you're
not green enough, you bad human.

Yet Exelon and ComEd don't have "enough" money to improve the
grid or their stations. So they need gov't money, which we
        don't have.

Oh but wait, you can buy your power from another "carrier" if
you want. What a crock of shit ponzi scheme.

        This entire state is fucked.
