My wife is a super healthy person... has always eaten healthy foods,
exercises daily, and watches her calorie intake. She actually weighs 15
pounds less than she did when she graduated from high school.
She recently discovered the "Keto" diet (which isn't really a diet, but
it can be)... it's the idea of only 25g of carbs per day, and lots of
fats and protein. She has started eating things she hasn't had for 20+
years (prime rib, hamburgers (no buns), butter, etc) and she says she
has never felt better in her life. She still watches her calories (1,200
per day total for her)... but she has more energy, is happier and really
enjoys what she eats.
Here is the book she is using, that is honestly one of the best written
books (on any subject) that I have ever seen... real world stuff, with
lots of examples and real stories:

The whole idea is that if your body doesn't have carbs to burn, it will
burn fat for energy and then protein after that. It also makes your
liver produce Ketones, which helps your body be more efficient.

If anyone is on low carb or contemplating low carb they ought to look

baking powder to see if we can leaven it a bit.
