Unfortunately all of the web browser manufacturers keep getting more
and more aggressive about self-signed certificates and the like.
This. I'm fed up with https for device management. I open a device and
it's 3 steps of "are you sure" before you are allowed in.
My favorite is an older Wimax unit with a self signed cert and which
only supports a TLS version which the browsers won't accept anymore. I
keep a Windows XP VM with IE 6 just for these devils.
I'm sure some operators demand https because of their company security
policies. I'm definitely not one of them.
