Call for Book Chapter Proposals- Language and Politics In Africa:
Contemporary Issues

Proposal Submission Deadline: 15th Dec 2008
Editors: Ochieng Orwenjo (Universiät Frankfurt) and Obiero Ogone  
(Universität Leipzig)

Objective of the Book:The major objective of the proposed book is to  
provide a comprehensive collection of multidisciplinary academic  
research and theoretical papers written by scholars and professionals  
of varied backgrounds. The book aims to serve as a resource book for  
academics, professionals and students of linguistics and political  
science who have an interest in the relationship between language and  
politics in Africa.

Recommended Topics include but are not limited to the following:
-Political Discourse and Electioneering in any selected African country
-Language and party politics in Africa
-The Politics of language policy formulation in Africa
-Language rights, minority languages and political participation in Africa
-Language, Gender and political participation
-Language, Media and Politics
-The use of proverbs in political discourse
-Parliamentary Discourse
-Language and Political violence
-African diplomatic discourse

Submission procedure

Potential authors should submit a maximum of two page page chapter  
proposals before December 15th 2008. The proposal should clearly state  
the objectives of the chapter and its contents as well as how the  
chapter fits within the overall objectives of the proposed book.  
Submissions should be made electronically in Microsoft Word: Authors  
of accepted proposals will be notified by March 30th 2009. Upon  
acceptance of their proposals, authors will have until September 30th  
2009 to prepare and submit their 5000 to 8000 word chapters. All  
submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis.  
Guidelines for preparing the chapters will be sent upon acceptance of  
proposals.
