Being able to solve a quadratic equation with a linear solution is a kind of
compression and it is a compressed operation (on the data) which is also
important. I have not be able to show that it is a general solution (for
parabolas that have been rotated for example) but I think that it might be
possible.  The conic sections are special so there is going to be something
more there.  Does this have any more general application to logic? I think that
there might be an analogous situation for logic but I can't think of anything
obvious.
