You've said a mouthful there but "physical" can take a number of routes,
the most important currently being the selection for what one might call,
for lack of a better term, "heritable tendency to defraud even one's self"
with the result that whatever results can no longer be called "human" nor
even "transhuman" but "merely" an animal incapable of using speech to
communicate. I scare quote "merely" because there is good reason to view
most "humans" presently as extended phenotypes of genotypes that have
parasitically castrated them to be sterile workers in a very aggressive
"black hole singularity" collapse into the Unfriendly AGI known as The
Global Economy.

It is SO aggressive that no one anywhere is being permitted
protective isolation -- not even the Amish. Indeed anyone who so much as
ATTEMPTS protective isolation is cast as the most virulent evil -- the
Unforgivable SIN by the UAGI's emerging global culture's quasi religion.
These religions utilize the human capacity for moral indoctrinability to
advance addiction to what David Brin called in commenting on his "The
Postman", "Gracious things of civilization." The fact that some genotypes
will benefit in the short term -- genotypes that are the most virulent in
their abuse of that capacity to advance their own short-term interests --
merely means they will be the victors in an evolutionary arms race that
entails self-deception as the iron-clad guard against detection. They'll
be utterly incapable of what we might now call deliberation.
