True about the Amish. Their life expectancy is about 3 years longer for men
and 1 year for women compared to other white people in a 2012 study in
Pennsylvania. The Amish have lower rates of most health issues except
pregnancy and childbirth complications, probably from having more children
and giving birth at home, which probably explains the sex difference. But
you can't tell from the study whether this is from refusing vaccines or
because they don't smoke, drink, or drive cars (fewer accidents) and get
more physical activity from farm work.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23284714/

In any case, the Amish benefit from the eradication of smallpox and polio
in the rest of the population. Amish children do get autism but at a lower
rate, 1 in 271 children vs 1 in 91 in the general population.

But this isn't because of vaccines. The autism rate has been rising because
autism is a spectrum and kids that used to just be nerdy because they
carried a pocket slide rule are now being diagnosed as borderline. People
keep citing the 1998 Wakefield study of 12 children that got the MMR
vaccine and was later retracted because the author falsified the data, and
not all of the followup studies that totaled 12 million children and found
no link, but still had to be done to remove any doubt. It was suggested
that the cause was mercury in the thimerosol preservative, but when that
was removed in 2001 the diagnosis rate kept going up.

As for covid-19, yes the vaccine has side effects. I got the 2 shots as
soon as I could in spring 2021 and later a booster, and each time I got a
mild fever and felt blah for a day. My mother died at 90 from covid in
summer of 2020 from an outbreak in her nursing home that killed 3 other
residents. I had covid 3 times once a year starting in January 2022 with
the milder omicron variant that the vaccine didn't work on. Each time it
was just a mild cold and a slight cough for a week, so I didn't bother with
the updated vaccines.

I understand that people are afraid of needles and don't like being forced
to take experimental drugs. I understand it is impossible to study long
term side effects when you are racing to produce anything that works and
5000 people are dying per day. So the vaccine makers do the best they can,
using the general principle that a dead virus is safer than a live virus
and produces an immune response in most diseases that people can recover
from. (There is no vaccine for AIDS because you don't recover). We do know
that the vaccine saved between 1.4 and 20 million lives depending on which
study you believe. Here is the low estimate.

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama-health-forum/fullarticle/2836434

And the high estimate, which I think is speculative.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9537923/

This does not include the 3 million lives I estimate were saved in China by
strict lockdowns and testing by delaying the outbreak until after Omicron,
reducing the fatality rate from 0.4% to 0.1%. Of course the lockdowns and
masks were a failure everywhere else and probably killed more people than
they saved. Officially, the pandemic killed 6 million people out of 20
million excess deaths worldwide.

And after the pandemic and mass vaccinations, we had a full economic
recovery and global life expectancy continues to rise at 0.2 years per year
everywhere in the world.
