Steeve, dood,
Do you know anything about hardware these days? 1. The latest iteration of "wafer scale" means roughly a diameter of 45cm. -- these wafers are incredibly massives these days! 2. If you want speed then you are going to need power, a fuckton of it.... Pop the cover on your computer and count the number of power converters surrounding your CPU and memory. 3. Latency will be atrocious. Electrons are not photons, and do not move at the speed of light. Any signal moving through a wafer will have to push those electrons around to propagate the signal. SLOW, the search term u should try is silicon photonics, basically adding fiber optic channels to silicon chips to overcome transmission latencies... 4. The real future is going 3D, the first step is stacked silicon, beyond that any technique that allows denser packing of elements will cut down on the need for exotic solutions to latency busting. -- power density will be a major issue but at least latency will be under conntrol. Micron has been doing a lot of innovating recently: http://www.micron.com/products/hybrid-memory-cube http://www.micron.com/about/innovations/automata-processing But really, the first thing you need to is write your code, and then figure out where it's spending it's time and thus could benefit from more hardware... -- IQ is a measure of how stupid you feel. Powers are not rights. ------------------------------------------- AGI Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/303/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/303/21088071-f452e424 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=21088071&id_secret=21088071-58d57657 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
