With math if it is an analog or continuous equation I try to see it in my
head and it looks like a 3D or higher dimensional mixed liquid of different
color paints. A color may correspond to a variable in the equation or
mixtures of colors are intersecting Cartesian graphs. Fuzz is fuzz like
probabilities. Digital or discrete like rings, fields I have to use symbols
but the symbols are constructed out of binary to allow as many as possible
and they can be 3D. Then throwing some cellular automata in there with some
fractals and genetic paint thinner and it starts getting real messyJ

But if I look at an equation like a Banach space equation what I see is in
black and white with lower and higher density fuzz regions changing as I go
from expression to expression.

Going further, sometimes I will lucid dream and in the dream I can see
dizzyingly complex patterns and designs and zooming into these sometimes I
will just see the math fibrillating with astonishing complexity. Sound
weird? My theory is that in the mind there are massive amounts of advanced
math occurring continuously with everybody. Mathematicians are able to get
society's particular symbology systematically working with it. But there are
other symbologies and representational schemes.

I meant visually manipulating mathematical expressions.

Well, it's hard to put into words what I do in my head when I do
mathematics... it probably does use visual cortex in some way, but's not
"visually manipulating mathematical expressions" nor using visual
metaphors...
