That should have been "who" rather than "why" :-) Just thinking a little further, in hand waving mode, If something like the common cold were added as a status within social networks, and everyone was on the network it might even be possible to eliminate this disease simply by getting people to avoid those who are known to have it for a certain period of time - a sort of internet enabled smart avoidance strategy.
