At one time, some patent titles were defined as "Unique" patent titles
(Rule 1044, repealed 27-Aug-06). When a unique title was awarded, it was
revoked from any previous holder, so unique titles tracked current state
but were not long-term records of distinction (records of previous holders
weren't maintained).
The "Frozen Ephemera" section of this report lists the people who happened
to hold particular unique titles at the moment those titles' definitions
were repealed.
