Matthew et al, while I'm not familiar with the feature in question, I personally get enough info about the surroundings in the game from the environmental sounds and their ambience. For me, if a feature like that which would tell one how far something is away would be usable, it would need to be always on (because of the speed of the game) and because of that, I'd probably end up turning it off! <smile> If something was announcing distances to me continuously it would interfere with playing the game. -and I say this because the game is really fast and I have enough to do as it is, rather than listening to and taking into account distances and such other than using the ambience and stereo positioning already available.
  Just my thoughts of course...

Thanks -- I'll check that out. I'm familiar with SoD's ``look''
feature. Basically I am wondering, will you have /time/ in the game
(AQ) to use such a feature, as it can be fast-paced?

We need to find the best way of providing information to you in a way
that makes it obvious -- implicit -- simply by the echo of the room, for
example. That's what we're aiming for.

I'll certainly look into a ``look'' feature (pardon the pun, hehe)
though and thanks again for the link.

Please, anyone, don't hesitate to add stuff here.

best regards,
