Hi there: I don't know if this will help, but what's happening to you now is what happened when I had an onboard sound card, I'd get the speech, which means that eflite is working, but no actual game audio. I found that installing a sb live card cured that. Just make sure the sound card in question has more then three physical jacks on it, mine has five. I used a three jack Avance Logic sound card with the same results as what you're having. I know the latest version of alsa is supposed to handle software mixing with onboard sound cards with dmix, but I've never gotten it to work, anyway, that's me two cents worth... clink clink! hth a little. Oh yes.. and just an afterthought, make sure you have access to the sound device as user, when I played with Debian, for some reason I didn't, if you do, could you tell me how you did it? I tried all I could think of but to no avail... but now I'm getting off topic, so I'll just shut up now. Cheereo!
