I want to give an account of the new mod I'm working on.
First, I took Cara's Gedi mod, and took out all the death taunts and other
messages so that it could be played in single player mode--imagine
attacking wizards and ogres with light sabers...
Second, coordinates are now given that allow you to know exactly where you
are.
Third, and this is what I'm currently working on, both the interval for
the sounding of objects, walls, slopes, doors and so on is changeable on
the fly, so if you find that you're missing something as you speed by, you
can raise the speed at which the objects in question are sounded out.
This is especially useful with slopes and doors. Not only that, I've also
made it so that you can "zoom in," on objects by changing the detection
range on the fly. You may think of this as cheating, but the sighted
players do this kind of thing all the time by changing the fov.
I also made it so that when you scrape a wall, the open space detector is
triggered automatically, letting you know where to turn to avoid scraping.
I'm still quite the rookie, but if you would like to see other changes,
let me know.
I've also completed my first map--well, modified an existing one. You
see, my mother's stupid dog bit my kid the other day, (not for the first
time,) and she won't get rid of the rotten fur ball, so I invented a map
called dogs. Imagine the comp3d map with plats, cliffs, and doors to every
room--and it's crawling with vermitious dogs! In addition, I modified the
dogs sounds to make them more realistic and vicious.
