But that is an extra $200 to upgrade to XP Pro, when (up until now)
2000 worked fine on those machines.

Spread that across a thousand machines in an organization, and it's a
little harder to justify.  Of course, by that time, you might as well
just get new Vista machines... but that's assuming there's a
significant IT budget to begin with.

On the other hand, if a binary-only version works on 2000 (per Jure's
suggestion), which I think I'll test within the next few days, then
this entire concern is null and void.
