You could use a Spider bellhousing and make a mount off the back. But
you still need an Alfetta flywheel or some way to hook a driveshaft to the
flywheel.
You really need a complete Alfetta driveline including the
bellhousing, driveshafts and the flywheel. Make sure to get them from a 1976
1/2 through 1979 Alfetta. The 1975 and early 76 driveshaft donuts or giubos
were trash and may not even be available.
My friend, James Perlingier in
Owasso, Oklahoma has parted out several Alfettas. He should be able to ship
you Alfetta parts. I am sending a copy of this to him so you will have his
email address.
Another option is to use a Milano Platinum transaxle.
The Platinum has a 4.10 gear ratio and a limited slip. The Milano Verde also
has a limited slip but with a 3 something final drive ratio.
If I recall
correctly, the late Alfetta and the early GTV-6 center driveshaft donut was
the same, so you could join an Alfetta shaft to a GTV-6 shaft. But if you are
building a kit car, you probably only need one drive shaft and could cut and
splice any front to any rear.
But it would be far easier to find a
complete Alfetta. They are still out there. Not all Alfettas have rusted
away to nothing. There is one a few miles from here that I could get for
free, if I wanted it.
So what kit are you planning? I always liked the
Alfa P-2 kit built by Classic Motors of Buffalo NY back in the 1970's. There
is one on eBay at the moment with the VW chassis and engine the kit was
designed for. Search eBay for # 300391876450 or

My plan was to build a tube frame. Since it
sits so high, an Alfetta transaxle should fit under the seat. I even thought
about joining two Alfa four cylinder engines together to make an 8C. OK, so I
am a day dreamer. But I have bid on a couple of non running kits over the
years.

Subject: [alfa] 2L Spider Engine with Alfetta
DeDion
Hello,
I am currently looking at building a replica car using a 2.0 L
Spider
engine and a DeDion rear end from either an Alfetta or GTV. My question
concerns what bellhousing might work for this. Does anyone have any
suggestions?
I suppose an easier option would be to use the entire drive line
from a
tired Alfetta manual transmission car, but I am having difficulty
finding one in Northern California.
Ciao
Frank
