Subject: [alfa] Reusing head gaskets

I'm curious as to why a head gasket can't be reused that has been removed from an engine that hasn't been run. I'm told that it is iffy, but if it is reused to torque it down several more ft.pds. Sure, there's some crush, especially the metal rings around the cylinders but it's going right back on (obviously) in the exact same position.

In this case it is for a 750 block and I'd really rather not torque it any more than necessary.
