Yes, it will be like using menuconfig with the linux kernel. If the kernel menu was built with ncurses 5.9 from the host, and then the host is upgraded to ncurses 6.0 and ncurses 5.9 libraries were removed, then menuconfig will not work. Rebuild the menu system and all should be fine.
