2005 -------
I recently installed Mandrake 10.1 on an IBM Thinkpad R40. The language
selected during installation was English. Everything seemed to work OK until I
opened Open Office for the first time.

The title bar is in English, but the menu bar and tool bars are in a different
language. For example, the normal "Window" option in the menu bar starts with
what appears to be an Omega character. The "Help" option ends with a
mathematical pi character where the p should be, etc. Putting my mouse on an
icon provides help in the unknown language.

However, when I type in text, it is in English. Pulling up a spreadsheet gives
the same language problem in the menus. English can be typed in the cells, but
it is displayed in a different language in the input line of the formula bar.

I contacted Mandrake, and they told me to go to you.

Before coming to you, I tried removing Open Office and reinstalling it. Same
problem. When I did an rpm -qa, it shows the following components installed:

OpenOffice.org-1.1.3-2mdk
OpenOffice.org-help-en-1.1.3-2mdk
OpenOffice.org-l10n-en-1.1.3-2mdk
OpenOffice.org-libs-1.1.3-2mdk

The only non-Mandrake software I have installed on the system is Firefox for the
web browser. I run Open Office 1.1.3 on another system using Suse 9.2 and don't
have any problem.
