I ran strace -o office.trace -f -ff oocalc mulitple times, and it appears the it is always one process that raises the signal. The last file to be opened is ~/.openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Views.xcu, after which follow a long series of reads and writes, ended by SIGFPE.
