I tried to find out if setting the paths to a different value (so that there're some settings in my ~/.ooo-2.0) helps. I changed to the binary OOo 2.0.2 and changed the Temp directory. The wizard still complained with the first message, but at least it was able to create the letter. I purged my ~/.ooo-2.0 and went to the self-compiled OOo 2.0.3. There changing a path didn't help. I purged the user config again and changed to the binary OOo 2.0.3. And suddenly everything worked without any issues at all.
