------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Oct 12 07:48:17 -0700 2006 ------- Thanks! Yes, what mmp says makes sense: The author wants to show all the main topics of the book; and let the reader select any node of interest and drill down. This is am excellent point. After all, the bookmark pane is to navigate; so "show all" is a good starting point. But there are two exceptions: (a) Some authors may like to draw the reader's attention to the DETAILS in the initial chapters. They think that the later part of the tree is relevant only when the reader comes to it. If a reader wants to peek ahead, he can always scroll down in the bookmark pane. (b) The total number of nodes in the bookmarks tree will very widely from document to document. So the "expand the tree to show around 32 modes" logic will yield quite different results. For example, large documents typically have 4-8 sections (at level-1) and 25-40 chapters (at level-2). So, by default, Writer may show only the "sections", and hide all the "chapters". The author may not like that. The following will take care of both these approaches: Let the algorithm calculate how many levels will get accommodated within a screen. Offer that figure as default level to the author. Let the author change it if he wants more/less details. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
