It is good to have a history (I think duplicate posts due to technical problems are not so common that this would require an extra feature for removal). But what I really would like to see is indeed a description field that is modifiable also later, so that the problem can be stated as exactly as possible at first sight. No need to browse through all comments to find out what the problem really is. It is often the case that the initial description is vague or contains errors (typos or wrong instructions for reproduction). That would really help. You can modify the summary later, which is good, but the summary is a "one-liner" only.
