The resolution of that issue basically says, we produce rpms, if you want debs, figure out how to fix your problem yourself. OpenOffice.org supports rpms to the exclusion of Debian packages, which depend on an external program beyond control of OpenOffice.org. Thankfully, Pavel JanÃk produces debs but no Spanish deb. Unfortunately I was unable to install those either, until OOo220. He has said he will include a Spanish deb in the future. He did not do so before, since that is one of the official languages "supported" by OpenOffice.org. The other option is to wait until a newer version gets massaged by the Debian maintainer. Currently it is stuck at OOo204 until unfrozen by the release of Etch, the upcoming stable Debian. Since I am unwilling to change from Debian, I guess I'll just have to learn to live with it.
