SORRY, you can't close this because there's STILL the OTHER problem left:

If I change the UI to "Default" and restart OOo, the UI reverts
to "English (USA)" and NOT to "Swedish (Sweden)" as implied by the Help
statement: "The default entry applies to the locale setting that was
selected for the operating system."

Please note that this applies to a US English version of "Windows Server 2003",
installed on a standard desktop PC and with EVERY SINGLE SETTING, INCLUDING
THE LOCALE, set to Swedish and/or Sweden.

Also note that I previously confirmed that on a laptop with the SWEDISH
version of "Windows XP Home Edition" installed and the UI set to "Default",
the UI is SWEDISH.
.
So it would seem that the default entry applies to
the LANGUAGE VERSION OF the operating system!

Can you please try and confirm this...?

NOTE: If the Windows installation that you used to perform the test was
set to the Swedish locale, YOU ALREDY HAVE CONFIRMED IT:

By the way, I'm now sure that the reason I had the very same JRE problem
using the laptop with the swedish version of "Windows XP Home Edition",
was that I had an older version of JRE on that machine too, when I installed
OOo. Since that machine is at a friend's place I cannot confirm it right
now, but I will do so tomorrow.
