Many people such as myself (and students, journalists, writers, researchers) use word processors for text editing and may work on the same text for months or years and, perhaps, switch to layout mode at the very end. We choose word processors on the basis of how productive we can be in a given word processor, and the lack of a normal view option immediately makes Writer very unattractive.
