So I'm afraid that you are lost on Win2000 if you don't switch to the OOo file
dialog. If Windows tells OOo that the file is read only it can't do anything
else than respecting that.

Of course it's possible that there is a configuration option in Win2000 that can
change Windows' behavior here but that's pure speculation.

Perhaps I should explain it in closer detail.

If you type in a file name into the Windows file dialog Windows hands over this
name to the calling application. The application now can open the file and
proceeds as usual.

This is different when you enter an http or webdav-URL. Now the Windows File
Dialog downloads the file into a local cache ("temporary internet files") and
hands over the file name of this temporary file to OOo.

Try the following on your Win2000: open the file from the webdav folder and call
"save as". Windows should offer you the cache folder as a target. So if the file
is read only it is so because Win2000 does not allow you to write to that
folder.

BTW: for me it doesn't work on XP either! I just tested it: I get a "read only"
file and "save as" points me to "Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\...".

Maybe it's more a question of installed patches or installed MS software
(sometimes I think that each MS software installation also patches Windows) if
the file is read only or not.
