I am fighting a different manifestation of what is probably the same bug.

1. Start macro recorder.
2. Create a text frame.
3. hit "escape" (to work around the bug as described by pinkernell).

3a; great, so this puts us back in the main text area of the document.
4. Click inside the text frame.
5. Insert some text.
6. Stop recording.

Step 4 is ignored by the recorder.

One can't just insert text after step 2, because at that point the frame is
selected and there is no insertion curcor inside it.

As far as I can tell, this bug means that there is no way to create a frame
programmatically and then programmatically put text inside it. (Well, what I
mean is that I just spent two hours on the problem and couldn't find a way yet.)
