If I tuned up my hardware, it wouldn't be the same machine :) In fact the same
versions install fine in Ubuntu on the same P4 hardware, so it's probably
specifically a Win 9x/ME issue. I accept that the installer is not written by
the OOo developers, that there are far more important OO performance issues
(e.g. 82827 and graphing), and sure the bug report may best sent to Nullsoft,
but IMHO it's worth recording here too.
The package I'm using is OOo_2.3.0_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe which I'm
fairly sure doesn't use MSI, it's based on Nullsoft NSIS. Could this be
assigned to whoever does the Windows packaging - they might like to consider a
different (earlier?) version of NSIS or some other installer (ISTR Python has an
open one?).
