------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Mar 3 01:53:55 +0000 2008 ------- I have searched OO menus, the online document:Writer Guide Chapter 7 Working with Styles (Published 15 December 2007. Based on OpenOffice.org 2.3.) and I cannot find any instruction on how to apply a changed style (e.g. header paragraph style)to all existing instances. I seem to have to go through every instance applying the new style, which is incredibly tedious and should never be needed. I cannot believe that the designers of a system as sophisticated as OO have failed to provide this option, so I assume that the problem is that it is hidden somewhere deep in the system and also is not documented (unless my searching was somehow flawed). I normally use Latex which makes this sort of change trivial, as did FrameMaker when I last used it many years ago. If the option is in the system, please make it visible in the style edit panel, and describe it in the documentation section headed "Applying styles" (which currently explains only how to apply a style to a part of a document, not how to apply a changed style to all instances.) If it is not yet in the system, it should be added -- to save users enormous amounts of wasted time, and it should be documented and made visible. I assume that in a well-designed software package it should be trivial to add a loop to find all instances of a class or datatype and apply an existing procedure to it (the procedure that is activated when the user clicks on the style name to alter a selected paragraph). thanks.
