------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Apr 8 21:07:27 +0000 2008 ------- Initially, I downloaded 2.4.0, untarred the tarball into one of my personal directories, su'd to root and ran setup - this, in theory, updated my system. This was where I had most of my problems, including this one in particular. I subsequently uninstalled OOo altogether and then reinstalled 2.4.0 (ran setup as root from the same directory again) and most everything seems to work well.
