2008 -------
I've got MS Office 2003 and OOo on the same machine. Previously, I used to
assign OOo as the default application for MS Excel spreadsheets during
installation. This gave me an option of creating new spreadsheets in Calc on the
basis of existing XLS files by right-click -> New menu item.

After I've installed BEA_300_m2, I've discovered that right-click -> New is
reverted to using MS Excel. I've tried to re-assign OOo as the default for Excel
spreadsheets by re-running the installer in the modify mode but did not succeed.

However, after I've re-run the installer of 2.4 in the modify mode, I was able
to restore Calc as default for XLS (and right-click -> New with Calc), but only
Calc 2.4, not 3.0.
