Update.
I just discovered the Oxigen Edition,
"OOo_2.4.1_080615_Win32Intel_install.exe", so I installed it just as a control
check. Strangely what ever they did with their version my system works fine
with it. Everything on my Windows2000 system was Ok after Oxigen's install.
Maybe the Oxigen team tweaked something differently? I hope knowing this
additional bit of info is helpful.
