An odd thing I've noticed is that when they do become uneditable, they become editable once again if I move the picture in slide two. Save for being able to edit the contents on the slide, I've had complete control over moving slides around/deleting them (original and copies). I had to try testing the second attachment four times before it caused a problem, I exited out of the instance of OOo before opening it again.
