I try to explain what I'm exactly doing. For I have a german operating system,
I don't know whether I'm using the correct expressions.
The aim is to include an "online harddisk" that belongs to my mail account as an
own drive within windows explorer. For this purpose my mail provider offers a
special webdav client (called GMX upload manager) to do this.

The software:
http://www.pcwelt.de/downloads/browser_netz/internet-tools/103471/gmx_upload_manager/

What is the GMX Upload Manager:
http://faq.gmx.de/dienste/gmx_upload_manager/1.html (only in german)

OpenOffice 2.4:
I start the UploadManager and the webdav folder will be included as an own drive
within the folder hierarchy of windows explorer. I'm using the windows file
dialog and there are no problems with write access both in Windows XP and
Windows Vista.

OpenOffice 3.0 / Windows Vista:
There is no write access on the folder using the GMX UploadManager, no matter if
I use the windows file dialog or the OpenOffice file dialog.
Now I try to include the webdav folder using windows tools.
Internet Explorer / Open (as webfolder): https://mediacenter.gmx.net (Login +
Password)
Now I assign a drive letter to this webfolder.
OOo is now able to read and write within this folder.

OpenOffice 3.0 / Windows XP:
There is no write access on the folder using the GMX UploadManager, no matter if
I use the windows file dialog or the OpenOffice file dialog.
Now I try to include the webdav folder using windows tools.
Internet Explorer / Open (as webfolder):
https://mediacenter.gmx.net (Login + Password)
Windows XP cannot assign drive letters to such webfolders, but usually it's no
problem to access this folder directly.
Windows file dialog: there is no write access to the folder.
OpenOffice file dialog: you cannot see the webfolder (only local folders).
