Hi! i thing the issue has been close too fast. Because

1. the bug is not fixed
2. the bug is not confirmed
3. the bug has not been investigated
4. Telling My wordpad is too old is stupid (why then all the ".doc" create with
"microsoft office" I received can be read with WordPad without problem)

This but exist at least since version 2 so it workwhile to push futher effort
on it.

So could you reopen it so I could add some new information.

Here is the news information I have. I have 2 ".doc" files. The 2 files have
been create with Oppen office 2.4. One is save as word 95
("WordPad_Do_not_Crash_.doc"). The other is save with word 97/2000
("This_Will_crash_Wordpad.doc"). I have try it on 4 different computer. The one

1. first computer is Windows XP Professionnel version 2002 French
Pentium III 500Mh 384 MB

"WordPad_Do_not_Crash_.doc" open without problem with wordpad
"This_Will_crash_Wordpad.doc" wordpad crash and close
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

2. second computer is Windows XP Professionnel version 2002 French service pack
1
Pentium III 500Mh 512 MB

"WordPad_Do_not_Crash_.doc" open without problem with wordpad
"This_Will_crash_Wordpad.doc" wordpad crash and close

I retry the same test after have been installed service pack 3 and the same
thing happened
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

3. third computer is Windows 2000 version 2000 French 5.00.2195 service pack 4
Pentium III 1000Mh 512MB

"WordPad_Do_not_Crash_.doc" Say : couln't load word 6 for windows (this is a
tranlation of french message)
"This_Will_crash_Wordpad.doc" wordpad crash and close
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

4!. fourth computer is Windows XP Professionnel version 2002 French service
pack 3
Dual Xeon 2.4 GH, 1MB

"WordPad_Do_not_Crash_.doc" Say : couln't load word 6 for windows (this is a
tranlation of french message)
"This_Will_crash_Wordpad.doc" open without problem with wordpad
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

I thing this bug worth some more investigation. And this a important bug, since
it make Open office useless aside from Microsoft Office since we couldn`t send
Open Office (Oo) documents to windows user unless they have "Microsoft Office"
or "Open Office". This is an advocacy issue. All the file i receive from
"Microsoft Office" user could be open with wordpad but not for the one create
with "open office" That's wierd!

Thanks
