Response was a bit harsh, wasn't it? Your question is, "What kind of logic is
that? 'I know it's my fault so please correct the problem'".
My answer is that there is a multitude of safeguards built into this type of
software to help people avoid losing their work, often through their own
mistakes (all the "Are you sure you want to do this? type questions, for
example, and even the panel I'm talking about that comes up when you close an
unsaved document - "Do you want to save?"), but the issue I mentioned is not
covered. If I was the only person that did this, I would say -forget it. But
I've seen this at work, at home and among friends and relatives. If it's
possible to build in a safeguard to help people, why not do it (or at least say
it's too low priority so it won't be done)?

The backup option doesn't cover the issue because you don't get a backup until
you save. If you remember to save regularly, you're all right, but many people
don't (and you could still make the same mistake anyway).

If it's not in your scope to help with this sort of issue, fair enough. But I
believe it would be a help, and it's a common enough issue. Computers work best
when they help you not to do the wrong thing, because, as I said, one can be
tired or confused or in a hurry. I also know many people who are not very
computer literate who just get it wrong.

Cheers

Geoff
