I don't really understand your explanation. The test document in Bug 72821 has
data base fields defined in both the footer for the first page and the footer
for the subsequent pages.

When you follow the instructions I included in Bug 72821 with OOo 3.0, you end
up with documents as I included in this bug report: the first document is OK,
but all subsequent documents still have field codes (not just text) in the
footers of ALL pages. That is, they have the fields TestMerge.Addr.PostalName
and Page numbers in both the first page footer and the subsequent footers.
Pressing Ctrl+F9 shows this (which is what I assume is the same thing that the
"Data to Fields" button to which you refer does).
