------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Apr 13 09:30:46 -0700 2005 ------- Have imported fixed width data as text to prevent scalc from converting some numbers to dates which is also a fault of Excel. Now, if I want to format the text number to a real number for calculations, it will not format. Pulling the spreadsheet into Excel does same thing, However, if I import the data into Excel as text, I can then format the text number as a real number. I note in the data window when I select the cell, it has a ' before the number. If I delete this, it will then work. This gets to be a PITA for a long spreadsheet. Other text data cells do not display the '. I see three solutions: 1. Remove the ' when importing on a number 2. Fix the import so that it does not convert a number to a date. 3. Fix the format cell number to really work.
