If you do a search for this issue on the internet there were a lot of VERY
unhappy people when version 3.0.1 was released and Openoffice caused tables to
be lost when saving in .DOC format. I have to say I was SHOCKED that such a
critical error could make it into a stable release. Posts on the internet
testify how people lost hours of work trying to rebuild their tables-especially
if they had set Openoffice to save in "DOC" format as default.

Mistakes do happen and the developers I know do volunteer their time for which I
am very grateful. Openoffice is a great product and I have used it for a number
of years.

Although I am grateful that 3.1 no longer causes the table data to be lost, from
what I can make out from the forum the alignment issue has not been fixed yet. I
feel it is CRITICAL that a word processor be able to save table information
correctly. MSWORD "DOC" format is used by businesses that I correspond with and
I need information that I send them to be displayed correctly. This is not a
P(riority)3 problem this is P1 problem! I cannot update from 3.0.0m9 until this
issue is resolved. Problems with Openoffice's ability to handle tables and
export them correctly to "DOC" only emerged in 3.0.1 - versions prior to this
exported tables correctly in DOC format. Why has it taken 6 months to resolve an
issue - when it has worked previously in earlier releases?

I am hoping that this issue can be resolved quickly so I can continue to
recommend this software for people looking for a robust Office solution.
