As specified in the setup guide,
http://documentation.openoffice.org/setup_guide2/2.x/en/SETUP_GUIDE_draft.pdf

Normally via the menu but for the trace, strace -o soffice1,9m93.trace -f
/usr/bin/soffice.

I am preparing the 2.0 user guide (~500 pages) with the beta releases.
(http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/OOo2.x/user_guide_draft.pdf) but
you can use the 1.1.x guide for starters.
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/OOo1.x.x/user_guide.sxw

While it worksforyou, I had to replace m93 with m94 before I could get a working
beta. I removed all .locks and files/directories in /tmp related to m93 before
filing the issue. As the author of the guides i work with large files hence the
URLs given above. As I reported the flash screen comes up but nothing further
happens. I believe that this is a problem for the developers as it is another
one of these issues like the Common.xcu issue that may never be resolved because
they are dismissed too early in the triage cycle.
