Thank you for the fast response :-). So I guess each student would be a line in
your example and you can see his improvements over time. Thats a nice example.

to 2) Having a list of n texts for the values 0 to n on an axis is already an
exsisting concept called categories. It is not very flexible at the moment. You
need to have those texts listet in the first row or column of your data range.
This will be improved within Issue 3997. Maybe you want to have a look at the
specification at
http://specs.openoffice.org/chart/dataselection/FlexibleSourceRangeSelection.sxw.
This concept might not be excaclty what you need but I fear that there would be
to much confusion if we indroduce another similar system here. So I tend to not
offer this but instead concentrate on your request 3). Because you can get 2)
when having 3):

to 3) I assume that having a vlookup like method to replace values could be a
powerful method to create customized axis labels. We should consider this.
Details have to be specified. As I would like to concentrate on this idea within
this Issue I changed the summary accordingly.

to 1) 'er' is the one working on the number formatter. He tends to not touch the
limit to three conditions in numberformats. Maybe you would like to try to
convince him yourself. In that case please do submit a separat Issue to him.
Thank you for you input.
