I opened this issue as a "Spreadsheet" issue of OOO 310m19 as you can see in
the Component and the version fields in this issue. So there is no reason to
look into the StarOffice 8 "Developer's Guide" or to explain the behaviour of
the Basic runtime. I mean Calc of OpenOffice.org an nothing else.
That's why I looked for the TODAY() function in the manual on
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/0314CG-
DescriptionOfFunctions.pdf what is the only official manual for Calc as far as
I know. On page 26 you find the function TODAY(). I used this function as
described there and it returned an empty value - in contrary to the NOW()
function what is described on the same page and what works fine.
I tried the OPTION EXPLICT as required and my Calc IDE returned a Basic runtime
error - Variable not defined as msgbox TODAY() was reached. I think that it is
really obvious that Calc didn't recognized the TODAY() function and referred
this call to the Basic runtime what it didn't recognized too.
Please be aware that I use the german version of OO. When I open the funtion
wizard in Calc I see that the names of all functions were translated into
german. In this list you don't find neither the function TODAY() nor NOW() but
the german functions HEUTE() and JETZT(). Both functions work with their german
names if used as a formula of a cell and HEUTE() returns exactly that date of
today what should be returned by TODAY(). But only the function NOW() works in
a macro! I want to say that it is perhaps possible that TODAY() was by accident
removed in the course of the translation process.
This issue is definitely not invalid - so I reopen it now.
