If you have a list box whose first list entry is an empty string, then this
string is not shown in the entry list. Still, you can *select* the entry by
pressing POS1 when the list is focused. So, it seems the entry is there, but not
displayed (and consequently cannot be selected using the mouse).

See the attached text document, containing a list box form control, for an 
example.
