Make visible of the drawing toolbar, by 'View->Toolbar->Drawing'. Select line, choose start point and line up a line, size whatever, should be visible. Now with the text cursor goto start paragraph and press return to insert a line, now press backspace, to remove this line. Viola the inserted line is gone.
